What decides the price of a fire extinguisher

Four things, in roughly this order.

Type of agent. Water and foam are the cheapest to fill. ABC dry powder costs a little more. CO₂ needs a heavier cylinder built for higher pressure. Clean agent is the most expensive agent on the market, which is why a 2kg clean agent unit costs more than a 9kg powder one.

Capacity. Within a single type, price rises with the fill. ABC dry powder runs from ₹ 1,039.00 for 1kg to ₹ 3,129.00 for 9kg.

Body material. Mild steel is standard. Stainless steel costs roughly double and is bought for corrosion resistance and a cleanable surface, which matters in a commercial kitchen and almost nowhere else.

Certification. A portable extinguisher made to IS 15683:2018 has been tested against that standard — cylinder burst pressure, discharge time, fire rating, valve performance. An unmarked cylinder sold cheaply online has not, and there is no way to tell from the outside. This is life-safety equipment, and it is the one category where buying the cheapest thing available carries a real cost.

Content life is three years for dry powder, wet chemical, foam and water, and five years for CO₂ and clean agent, after which refilling is arranged through a local service provider. Worth factoring in if you are comparing cost over ten years rather than at purchase.

Why do ISI marked fire extinguishers cost more?

Because the mark means the extinguisher has been manufactured and tested to IS 15683:2018, and that testing covers the things you cannot see — cylinder burst pressure, discharge time, fire rating and valve performance. An unmarked cylinder has not been through any of it.

What size fire extinguisher do I need for a 2BHK flat?

Yes. Every Alfa Fire extinguisher ships with a wall mount, from the 500ml Mini up to the 9kg and 9L cylinders. Do you offer refilling or servicing?
