Read more about hotel and restaurant fire safety
A hotel or restaurant is three fire problems in one building: a kitchen running hot oil, guest floors full of people who do not know the layout, and back-of-house full of electrical plant. Each needs a different agent. Cover starts at ₹ 949.00.
The kitchen is the one that matters
Commercial kitchens are where hospitality fires start, and a deep fryer is the specific case. Cooking oil holds enough heat to reignite minutes after the flame is out, which is why dry powder is the wrong answer however convenient it looks on the wall. Wet chemical cools the oil and forms a soapy crust across the surface, and it is the only agent rated Class F.
Stainless steel is worth the premium here, not for performance but because it resists a humid greasy environment and wipes clean for inspection.

What an inspection looks at
Presence is the easy part. What gets picked up is placement: units hidden behind a service trolley, signage missing above the line of sight, a kitchen unit mounted where you would have to reach across the range to get it. The working rules in IS 2190 are visible, wall-mounted with the top between about 1 and 1.5 metres, signposted, and no more than 10 to 15 metres of travel to reach one.
Commercial premises are required to comply with the fire safety requirements that apply to the building. IS 2190 is the Indian Standard that sets out how, but the legal obligation itself comes from the state fire service act and the municipal bylaws.
Before you buy
Content life is three years for wet chemical and dry powder, five years for CO₂. Alfa Fire manufactures and sells but does not refill or service. Every extinguisher ships with a wall mount, and the mild steel kitchen unit also includes a discharge hose.
Hotel groups, restaurant chains, caterers and facility contractors are supplied in bulk, quoted against the requirement, with a response within one working day.

Hotel and restaurant fire safety — common questions
Which fire extinguisher is required in a commercial kitchen?
Wet chemical, rated Class F — Class K in common Indian usage. It is the only agent designed for cooking oils and fats. A 6 litre stainless steel unit from ₹ 3,259.00 is the usual specification for a fryer line.
What fire safety equipment does a hotel need?
Wet chemical in the kitchen, ABC dry powder on guest corridors and stairwell landings, and CO₂ at reception and in the server or PABX room. The agent changes with the risk in each zone; one type everywhere is the common mistake.
Why not use ABC dry powder in the kitchen?
It is not rated for Class F. It may knock the flame down, but it does not cool the oil, so the fire can reignite once the powder settles. It also contaminates every food surface in the room, which turns a small fire into a closed kitchen.
How far apart should extinguishers be in a restaurant?
No more than 10 to 15 metres of travel to reach one, per IS 2190, mounted with the top between about 1 and 1.5 metres from the floor and signposted. In a narrow service corridor that usually means one at each end rather than one in the middle.
Mild steel or stainless steel for a restaurant kitchen?
Stainless. The agent and rating are identical, but it resists corrosion in a humid greasy environment and wipes clean, which matters when an inspector is looking at it. Mild steel from ₹ 1,459.00 is the sensible choice for a domestic kitchen, not a commercial one.
